1. Overview

PDFWisp ("we", "our", "us") is a browser-based PDF toolkit. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

2. File Processing

Your files never leave your device. All PDF processing (compress, merge, split, convert) happens entirely in your web browser using client-side JavaScript. We do not upload, store, transmit, or have access to any files you process through our tools. This is by design — it protects your privacy and eliminates server-side data risks.

3. Data We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the service:

  • Account information: If you create an account, we store your email address and authentication data through our auth provider (Supabase). Google OAuth users share their email and name as provided by Google.
  • Usage counts: For authenticated users, we track daily operation counts (e.g., how many PDFs you compressed today) to enforce plan limits. We do not track which files you process or their contents.
  • Payment data: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. Stripe provides us with subscription status, plan type, and customer identifiers.
  • Feature requests: If you submit a feature request, we store the request text, your email address, and a timestamp.
  • API waitlist: If you join our API waitlist, we store your email address and optional use-case description.

4. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication (session management via Supabase). These are strictly functional and do not track your browsing activity. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

5. Analytics

We use PostHog for basic analytics to understand how our tools are used and improve the service. Analytics data includes page views and general usage patterns. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users or the files they process.

6. Third-Party Services

  • Supabase: Authentication and database hosting.
  • Stripe: Payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare: Hosting and content delivery.
  • PostHog: Product analytics.

7. Data Retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Usage counts are stored on a daily basis and not retained beyond their operational purpose. Feature requests and waitlist entries are retained until you request deletion.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent for non-essential data processing

9. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by posting a notice on our website. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
